The NO interest loan scheme (NILS) provides interest –free loans for individuals or families on low incomes. NILS is a community-based program that’s enables people to access fair, safe and equitable credit for the purchase of goods and services.

Who is Eligible?
To be eligible to use this service you must:
Hold a Health Care/Pension Card
Be living within the City of Hume Local Government Area
Have been residing at your current address for a minimum of three months
What can I use the loan for?
NILS loan is generally for the purchase of essential household items, such as:
NILS’s loans may also be used to meet other needs, like education costs. The NILS is not for emergency relief, bond or rent, living expenses, debt repayments, car repairs or car registration.
How much can I borrow?
The amount you can borrow is assessed on an individual basis up to $1000.00
Once you have registered your interest, a NILS’s worker will contact you to confirm your eligibility for a loan. The NILS worker will send you an application pack either by email or post. All applications are required to attend an interview with a NILS’s worker, it’s important that you bring along your completed application pack.
Following the interview your application is submitted to the loan assessment committee for review.
Confirmation of your Application
If your NILS loan is approved, a NILS’s workers will contact you to finalise loan details and arrange purchase and delivery of your item
